Unfortunately its not an option...though I'd prefer it.
My carrier is offering me a choice of a Razr, Krazr, or Q if I sign a 2 yr contract extention...the Q was the only one that I had any interest in and was looking for any feedback on it.
When you say constantly reboot, how often are they having to do so?
The text of CR review: (If there is a 2nd gen out there it does look like it's better, just not reviewed yet by CR.) It looks like CNet is giving the Q9 ratings closer to an average 7 instead of 6 for the Q.
Highs This model, though still available, has been succeeded by the new Q that is much better overall. The phone's Windows Mobile operating system synchronizes easily with Microsoft Outlook on a PC, but is incompatible with non-Microsoft programs. It's also reasonably easy to switch between applications. Good e-mail readability and attachment capabilities. Good voice quality when talking and listening. Adequate 3 hours of talk time. Very good controls for making and taking calls. Good display readability. Thinner than most. High-speed wireless broadband data capability provides faster Web browsing and file downloads. Supports Bluetooth data and stereo headsets. Has voice command. 1.3-megapixel camera has flash and can record video. Can charge phone through USB port with included cable.
Lows Can't create and edit documents. Display difficult to read in bright light. Poor keypad readability under different lighting conditions. Doesn't include PIM software for your computer. Lacks single-key, last-number redial. Ringer is not easy to mute.
Bottom Line Decent, but there are much better choices, including the new Q.
Never used one myself, but glancing at Consumer Reports shows me that of all the phones they've rated, the Q is the very last. Although the Motorola MOTO Q got a much higher rating.
The Palm Treo 755P is the second, just below the iPhone.
Don't know if any of this is useful to you. I love researching stuff. (Stupid history background.)
It does look that way, I'll have to ask. I'm tempted to get the thing(since its essentially free to me), then switch back to the Nokia I have now and use the Q as a toy.
Oh I'd totally go for it if it was free to me. This treo was free to me and I've got a solitaire game on it that I use constantly. (even though it does eat up more space than I can afford)
I'm fairly excited about AT&T taking over cellone as that's who our business operates their phones through and my boss is gung-ho about the TILT that AT&T carries. They carry a much wider range than cellone did.
I'll just be happy to get away from this Palm Treo. Ick.
I was never impressed with Cell One, and am not really impressed with Cingular(they may have renamed themselves ATT, but its still one of the evilest of the babybells at heart)
I don't really mind the Treo so much, it's the Palm OS that I'm getting a bit tired of. It just seems clunky. I haven't had the opportunity to use a Windows PDA, but the OS on this thing is identical to the one on my old Tungsten C. And that things I don't even know how many years old. Palm needs to seriously innovate.
I've heard lots of good things about the Treo 700w|wx...wish they had them(or even supported them).
Palm is essentially dead now that the PDA market is dying. Unless it really retools for smartphones(which it appears to be working on, but we'll see) its gone.
My roommate has an older model Treo, and seems to really like it(but he got it free from work).
Oh, and the fact that it only has 24MB onboard RAM. So I'm constantly having to pick and choose what apps I need to run at any given time and uninstalling the ones I'm not currently using.

Date: 2007-12-07 06:24 pm (UTC)Coworker has had his for about a year and the phone just died on him. He always complains about having to constantly reboot it (it runs windows)
Billy has the gen 2 q so it has not yet died but he has the same complaints as the coworker....and it loses charge if you do not plug it in overnight
My boss has the treo with windows mobile and loves it....might i suggest that instead?
